Troy Nickerson Named Resident DirectorAbout:
Civic is proud to announce that longtime performer, choreographer and director, Troy Nickerson, has accepted the honorary position of Resident Director. It was at Civic's 2nd Annual Endowment Dinner, held on July 10 and featuring their annual awards ceremony and upcoming season showcase, that Executive Artistic Director, Yvonne A.K. Johnson awarded Troy the role.
The awards ceremony, honoring Dee Finan's 25 years of costume design, came to a close with a special award for Troy, who has been a part of the Civic family since age 12. Over the years, Troy has proven himself to be, not only a stellar performer, choreographer and director, but a community leader who is always willing to lend his various skills, talents and expertise to those who need it.
Troy has received numerous accolades for his exceptional directing, including two national titles for I Never Saw Another Butterfly, and more recently, Assassins. He received best actor in the nation for Lonely Planet and he volunteers as Civic's hair consultant and as the Chair of Civic's Special Events Committee. Troy was already fulfilling a promise to direct two Civic productions a year, a promise he will continue to fulfill as Resident Director. For the Sizzling Hot 2009-2010 Season, Troy will be at the helm of Civic's productions of Curtains and Escanaba in da Moonlight.
