Spokane Civic Theatre Needs a Raft
What:
Civic Takes a Hit From Mother Nature
About:
As everyone knows all too well, recent Spokane weather has given us challenges, and Civic has not been immune to this. We are sending word to our patrons and theatre lovers in the region, requesting your help in getting us out of the water.
We are currently dealing with flooding in the Firth J. Chew Studio Theatre that has put this space and it's lobby under more that one inch of water. Ice dams on the roof above the administrative offices and main lobby have also caused water damage in these areas, and our main plumbing well is flooded and estimated to cost $2,800.00 to pump out. Staff is currently doing all they can to correct this problem. We have had to sandbag the foundation and purchase a sump pump and dry vacs, and the roof is irreparable until spring time. In addition to over $3000.00 required to pay for additional snow removal this season, we estimate the repairs to cost approximately $20,000.00. Please send donations to Spokane Civic Theatre's Emergency Winter Reparation Fund. Your help is greatly appreciated.
Despite these hurdles, we'd like Spokane to know that our Main Stage is still on solid ground and we're ready to give you one excellent production of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, when it hits the stage this Friday, January 9 at 8:00 P.M. We promise that life jackets won't be required. Also, the Firth J. Chew Studio Theatre will be ready for it's production of The Women of Lockerbie when it opens Friday, January 30 at 8:00 P.M. The show will go on at Civic, but we're going to need your help to keep the water at bay.
