Our fall, winter and spring classes for ages 4 - adult (you're never too old!) run eight weeks beginning the last week of September, the last week of January and the second week of April.
We also have summer camps for all students, from those just entering kindergarten to those just graduating high school.
Whether you're a seasoned Civic Theatre actor or you've never before set foot inside a theatre, we have a class that's right for you.
The Spokane Civic Theatre Academy is dedicated to helping children explore and understand all aspects of theatre, as well as being a supportive environment for personal development.
Our sessions focus on theatre skills, knowledge, theory, and practice, culminating in a live performance for friends and family. What sets us apart from other theatres in the community are the credentials of our staff and the overall quality of the classes and productions we offer.
We hold our faculty to high standards at the Civic, and part of that is making sure ALL of our teachers have teacher certification and collegiate degrees. The Director of Education for the Civic holds both BFA and MFA degrees in theatre, and every member of the educational support staff holds at least a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. We believe that certified, qualified, and educated instructors make all the difference in the world, and our enthusiasm, organization, and preparation is bound to rub off on our students as we teach them not only theatrical lessons, but life lessons as well.
While certification and accreditation are very important, they only serve as a subset to our ultimate goal: to provide an educational environment of the highest quality. Our camps are run with organization and accuracy, with a healthy dose of nurturing and caring. We are more than simply a place for your child to “do a play”. We teach important lessons on accountability, discipline, positive reinforcement, and skill building. We take your child through all phases of a production process (from auditions to rehearsals to performance) while building confidence through a supportive, positive environment. Your child walks away from a camp feeling great about not only the final production, but the skills and confidence they learned along the way.
One of our many goals is to give students throughout our city a chance to explore their own creativity in a fun, safe, and nurturing environment. Whether a student is looking to get their feet wet, or is a seasoned veteran of the stage, our camps give every student the opportunity to grow and thrive.
We hope to see you on the Civic stage!
Come join us as we have fun making friends and putting on a show. Get ready to discover your own talent!
